Pret-a-Portea at The Berkeley

On December 27th of last year (yes, it took me a month to blog about it), I checked out the Prêt-à-Portea afternoon tea at The Berkeley. Advertised as a Fashionista's Afternoon Tea, The Berkeley usually offers 3 options depending on if and which champagne you choose. Unfortunately during the holiday season, only the champagne options were available. Thus at 3pm, my companion and I checked in to our reservation and settled on the Champagne Prêt-à-Portea for £49 each.

The Autumn 2012 - Winter 2013 menu features all-you-can-eat tea sandwiches, savory tasters and desserts. However, having just one try at each creation was sufficiently satisfying. The menu changes every six months to reflect the newest fashion on the runway.


My glass of Laurent Perrier NV really complemented the tea sandwiches and tasters. The champagne's crispiness contrasts with the soft texture of the sandwiches. After just one sip, Laurent Perrier instantly became my favorite champagne.

Who doesn't love edible fashion? The treats were a bit too sweet, but it was a wonderful experience nonetheless. Stay tuned for an upcoming review of another afternoon tea date at The Langham!
